THE LATE TALKER
And the Story Behind IQed
Before IQed, there was a mother searching for answers for her own children, years of advocacy for families, and a book created to help parents better understand late talking children.
The Late Talker, co-authored by Lisa Geng, became an important part of that journey.
Copies of The Late Talker are still available below.
IT STARTED WITH TWO LITTLE BOYS
Long before IQed existed, Lisa Geng was the mother of two late-talking sons.
Lisa with her sons, Dakota and Tanner, in the early years that shaped the journey behind The Late Talker and, eventually, IQed.
Before there was a book, a foundation, or IQed, there were two little boys and a mother determined to understand how best to help them.
Like so many parents, she found herself looking for answers, trying to understand why her children were developing differently and what she could do to help them.
Those questions became much bigger than one family's experience.
Lisa began connecting with other families, professionals, and researchers and became increasingly involved in advocacy surrounding communication and developmental differences.
FROM PARENT TO ADVOCATE
In 2000, Lisa founded the Cherab Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to help families affected by communication delays and disorders.
Through Cherab, Lisa spent years hearing from parents and professionals, sharing information, asking questions, and helping families navigate concerns that were often poorly understood.
That work exposed Lisa to thousands of real-world experiences and helped shape the questions she would continue asking for years.
THE LATE TALKER
Lisa later became co-author of The Late Talker: What to Do If Your Child Isn't Talking Yet.
The book grew out of the same mission: helping families understand late talking, recognize when additional evaluation may be needed, and become better advocates for their children.
For Lisa, The Late Talker was never simply a book.
It was another chapter in a much longer effort to understand why some children struggle with communication and development, what families were observing, and where important questions were still unanswered.
THE QUESTIONS KEPT GROWING
Over the years, families and professionals shared observations involving much more than speech alone.
Questions increasingly touched on nutrition, cognition, focus, memory, behavior, and overall development.
Those observations were not proof of cause and effect, but they created questions worth exploring.
Lisa continued following those questions, and eventually that work contributed to the development of IQed Smart Nutrition.
FROM ADVOCACY TO IQED
IQed did not begin as an ordinary nutrition product.
It grew out of years of listening, questioning, research, formulation work, and an effort to create a comprehensive nutritional platform rather than another simple protein shake or single-ingredient supplement.
Today, IQed represents another stage in the same journey that began decades earlier with two late-talking children and a mother determined to find better answers.
